Thanks to the porous structure, BIO RINGS is an ideal place for the development of bacterial flora. The size and cylindrical shape with an internal bore provide a large surface area for the growth of beneficial bacteria.
Analysis of the surface with the use the BET method determined the effective area for the ceramic filtration rings in the range of 1,050 m2 / liter – it far surpassed other biological media available on the market.
BIO RINGS are very good at decomposing ammonia and nitrite. They improve the conditions in your tank. The product can be used in freshwater and saltwater aquariums, as well as in ponds and water holes. BIO RINGS effectively catch compounds that are a breeding ground for bacteria from the water. Thanks to this, they purify the water of medium and large solid impurities.
Bio-Rings are shaped like discs with the following dimensions: diameter approx. 15 mm and height approx. 15 mm.
The filtration material is made of ceramic hollow rings that catch all larger contaminants. Immediately after starting the filtration process, the water is swirled through the rings. In this way, larger dirt particles fall to the bottom. Then the purified and pre-filtered water passes through next filtration layers. The BIO-RINGS ceramic ring is easy to clean and it can be used over and over again.
Bio-Rings is made of a mixture of powdered glass and salt crystals. Next to, the whole mixture is pressed into the shape of discs and sintered at a temperature of approx. 800°C. The next step is washing – in order to remove salt crystals and other impurities.
